how do you get the plastic pins out to get the lid off, as i need a new one,any advice on where to buy a replacement, jeff=bones1.

Jeff,
Most people on here will say just pull them out - they break - get 2 new ones before doing the job. I chopped about 10mm off the end of a BIC biro and if your patient you can slide this over the locking tangs and then pull the pin out without any damage. Good luck,
