sounds familiar. They can be slightly sluggish for couple of minutes. Give it chance to heat up!

Mine took 5 attempts at starting yesterday at -4 deg c, before it fired up and ran fine, but started straight away today at 4 deg c. I'm pretty sure all my glowplugs are now shot, but am reluctant to try removing them. If I use the BAS FBH controller remotely for 1/2 an hour, it starts straight away, at any very low temperatures. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Not had a problem with battery yet, but does depend on age/condition of it I suppose. I don't put the ctek on mine as it gets used nearly every day for work with the exception of days off. im just going to keep adding to this just in case some others have the same/similar issues
It was around 0 this morning on the drive where the D3 is parked but the focus I use for work that parks on the street and blocks our drive was showing -1
so I uncoupled the C Tek and the D3 started instant with no tiny misfire , now the C Tek has been on for a week or more constant , just taken off when we have gone out in the D3 , wasn't used yesterday and -2 near us
so until I get my hands on a clamp tester to check plug performance properly im still thinking my battery is on the way out ,bodsy did comment once it was low when he health checked my D3 , probably through lack of use
so im going to drop a new exide on this week and then check the current flow .
Least I have a week or so off soon to have a proper look at it over Christmas

When I use my fbh 30 minutes before start up, it runs very lumpy with miss fires and won't rev up for about 45 seconds. On a + side at least my coolents warm.
It fires up fine without the fbh in any condition.
If it's working for you then that's good.

think I have heard that before Ant.
I think its because the engine temp sensor is reflecting the coolant temp rather than the temperature inside the cylinders.
Experiment by using the FBH less until you find the right balance

And shortens pre and after start glow time.

ive read into it a while back. That's what it does.
I've got a problem with my fbh at the moment so I can't use it at all.
The results from the glow plug tester are coming I think soon
