Going back to Drive (D) after having hit paddles
Occasionally my big fat hands hit the paddles on either side of the steering wheel and I go into manual drive mode...
Is there a way to return to D quickly and simply? My method involves me turning the dial from D to N then back to D to get me into the auto mode.....as I drive along....

Hold the + one for a few seconds and it goes back to D.

Can also do it by going from D to S and back again. Or if in S, go to D then back to S.

It will if the paddles remain untouched for a while ...unless you are in low range when they stay fixed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yes it does, I tend to use Sport on the motorway when I don't want it changing gear just because I want to go a little faster, say 50 - 70.Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I would say the motorway is the worst place to use to use sport mode - it won't use top gear, therefore not best fuel economy!Gone: 2010MY 59 plate Bali Blue HSE.

Yes it does, if you use command shift to put it into 8th, then it stays there.

Absolutely correct, It does seem to stay down one if you stay in auto sport but mine returned 31.8mpg from Preston to Central London the other week sitting around 70 .... ish Joined the BMWX5 45e group
