Going Down, Ground Floor. Suspension Query.

My D3 isn't used very often. Noticed one day last week that the suspension had bottomed out after several days standing idle, but once started up it came back up to normal ride height, where it's been ever since. No faults up.. Is this normal or can I expect a problem? Thanks for any replies..

Hi Ed,

It is not normal in the sense that it shouldn't do this. You probably have a leak somewhere, could be compressor, piping or valve block(s).

It *is* normal however in the meaning that numerous D3's have this problem and they run without problems (in this respect) because the leak usually is far smaller than the amount of pressure the compressor can deliver.

If your Disco is still under warranty, I'd have it checked out by the dealer. The problem can be fixed but because of the varying causes, it is hard to find. It took my dealer 1,5 years on my car.

The moral of the story: you needn't worry.

Regards,

Wiljo

It's worth getting it sorted as whilst the lines and connectors are cheap to replace a new compressor costs a fair bit & your current one could be working quite hard when you are driving.

Are you parked on a level surface ?? I know the beasty goes through regular self levelling checks over time and this could be why yours has dropped. If I park mine on a slope, it also drops but if I park it on the level, it's fine.

Yes, it is parked on a slope... It's not a consistent deflation.. Two days ago it looked 'half down'.. Apart from this little glitch, does the team think that air units should be renewed after 'x' number of years? Mine's 6 years old now (but very low miles)..

Airbags are only really renewed if they are leaking TBH

Same as P38/Disco 2 etc. You wouldnt replace them *incase* they leak...

If it drops down to its bump stops overnight, then I would advise getting it looked at, but if its only over a few days of not being used, parked on a slope etc, wouldnt worry about it Thumbs Up

When you say "same as D2/P38" - do you mean identical part?

No, as in Disco 2 and P38 are prone for leaking air bags Thumbs Up
