| Any good Fly fishing near LLandovery? |
|
Hi,
taking the tintent to Wales next month and hopeing to get a few hours fly fishing in
Will be based just south of LLandovery so any suggestions on where to visit would be appreciated
have had a look at the LLandovery AA web site for the upper river above town ? any suggestions, got my new waders so need to try them somewhere. 8)

We've stayed at a rental property very close to the banks of the Towy. I didn't fish, but water was run by the local angling club. Website is here:

I plan on getting in touch with LAA via their web site and see what comes from that,
as long as I get to wet a line somewhere I'll be happy Transit! 2019

I used to fly and spin on the Cothi and Teifi about 20 years ago ...I was working for Welsh Water at the time and the BiL and I used to have access to some fantastic beats including the chairmans  There are few things better than being in the river in the middle of nowhere under a moonlit sky listening to the little fellas splashing up the water towards you 8) 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

well thats another holiday over  back home now
only managed to get away and wet a line once for about 3 hours one evening
had a couple of little taps to the fly but nothing to show did not see any signs of anything raising either ? although a kingfisher did fly up river so he must be doing better
did see 4 - 5 guys on the bank side one evening as the light was going, understand it is more of a sewin, night fishing river with the spinner no one was going for the browns.
could not believe the power of the Towy, the force of the water running through was scary knee deep was as deep as I went which limited the amount of water I could fish, but still enjoyed it...
Had a stroke of luck as well, the farmer of the CL we were on had two rods for the Llangradog lower Towy, which he kindly let me have for the day bought him a drink
there is a deep holding pool just under the road bridge there.
chatting later in the week in the pub understand not much has been caught yet so next month may be looking good?
