Got first D3...Yipee.....got first suspension fault....Booo! |
|
After much appreciated help from forum members I researched and found my 'perfect' D3 2006 in silver/alpaca 65K on the clock. Was 150 miles away so have spent the day collecting it.
LOVELY
UNTIL
Got home and it gave me a bing....turned on the little orange 'Car with a headache' tell-tail on the dash and said 'Suspension failure Normal Height only' . Compressor pumped for an age after switching off car (N/S rear of car) and although the car is new to me, I am convinced the rear is now sitting lower than the front.
Please tell me all will be OK as completely gutted....kinda taking the edge of my lovely new toy
Any advice as to what to do. Got it from a dealer (Not LR) so should have 3 months warrantee....but 150 miles away

Glad you got one sorted.....shame it wasn't mine
Compressor pumped for an age AFTER you switched it off?? Not sure about that. If the compressor was trying to pump, I guess it means thats OK, unless its working hard, so lunching itself. It could be something as straightforward as needing a new battery, but it could be a faulty airbag or valve block.
I'm sure if you have a word, the dealer will fix it....I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though, knowing what most car dealers are like with their 3 month 'statutory "I'll give it because I'm obliged to" warranty'....why oh why didn't you get a proper warranty bud?
Welcome to the fun though fella, I'm sure it'll be fine TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

Hi Muddymark.....soz about not buying your car
Thanks for the info.....turns out the compressor did lunch itself!!
But have had extremely positive experience.
Found out I have a local land rover indi specialist (about a mile away!!) who had me booked in for 8am this morning for diagnostics. Discovered it was the compressor and phoned the dealership for me (Hamworthy Cars in Poole)....who without so much as a quibble agreed to pay for replacement (about £400).
Neil at Landmark then drove me to work so I could leave the car and had the whole thing replaced and ready for me to drive off by lunch time
Its nice to know there are knowledgable, honest people out there!!

I had exactly this and it took a small age to diagnose....
I'd be almost certain that your compressor relay is sticking on. Replace it and you'll solve the problem. Don't replace it and intermittently you'll end up blowing compressors and pipe unions...
I now change my relay every year, just to be on the safe side.
Frustrating problem. Very cheap fix. Very expensive consequences... 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
