GPS Aerial/ Anntena

Hi

I have a DISCO3 06 HSE with a in car phone kit - the Bluetooth function but the 'socket' to place a phone in the lid of the central consol.

I have to replace the GPS aerial on top of the car (shark fin)

1. will an OEM product do ? and best place to get one ?
2. I was reading recently it is a dummy so no need for one ?

On early cars I believe the shark fin is for navigation
