LRNA has stepped up to pay for the rear diff replacement
However the leaking AC and the dead gas cap vacuum pump that caused my CEL are left for me to pay for
So what's the skinny on the diffs - do I need to swap out the diff oil every service to try and keep the new one alive longer than 50k?08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8

Was due to pick the car up yesterday but guess what.....it has another noise which turns out to be the front diff
None in stock at LR so have picked it up anyway and waiting for a call to re-book, just as well really as cannot miss my "Wiggs" appointment this weekend
In future I best be careful what I type and wish for or at least make sure I do the lottery this weekend

My car returned without any work being done. Land Rover have apparently released an upgraded diff which does not suffer (!!!) from the failure problem and I was pleased the delaer decided to not fit the older version ande wait until they can get their hands on the new one based on it would cost me if it failed again (but annoyed that the car will have to go back yet again).11 HSE Santorini Black

The part was only ordered for me on Thursday evening and they did not have a due date on the system on Friday evening so not sure whether it is actually available, or just gone into development or any stage in between.
What they did say - and if anyone can confirm or deny - is that driving with the noise / fault is not going to result in the possibility of a total failure and tow back to base. I've got a drive to the Alps for Easter skiing coming up and it may not be fixed by then.11 HSE Santorini Black
I couldn't see them making that sort of guarantee in the US - way too much chance of being sued.
I left a voicemail for the service manager at my dealership about the new part - no answer as yet.

No diff for me today at the dealership - seems they are in short supply for some reason and now there's another LR3 in at my dealership that needs one, but he's behind me!
Earliest is Friday - so I'm enjoying their loaner LR2 (which I have already triggered a CEL on!)
Service tech said that they were having to provide details on the failures to LR - and get special authorization for the replacement - but that could just be BS to keep me from throttling them....08 LR3 SE V8 - 02 D2 SE7 V8
