Grinding noise with HDC applied

Whilst on hols I had HDC on whilst using a steep cray track. Every time it appeared to work there was an awful metaliic grinding noise from the front offside, the vibration of which I could feel through the brake pedal. This was replicated when braking on a flat section of road with HDC on; it disappeared with HDC off. Any ideas?

I could be wrong but isnt that the normal kind of noise when HDC is active, I recall mine making a racket as well.

The vibration, much like when ABS kicks in, yes, but not a metalic grinding noise Shocked Check you pads aren't worn through - remember the sensors for pad wear aren't on all discs, so you could have the one side worn out and the other still ok. Long shoot I know, but I'd check anyway.

I think you'll find it's normal, just the action of the ABS modulator applying braking force to the wheels, hence the vibration through the pedal.

I have to say it scared the cr@p out of me first time I heard it. Shocked

Normal noise, less though in the facelifted D3s. Confused

The 1st time I heard this I though fek, I've broke it. Normal noise and the more you hear it the more reassuring it becomes, because you look for it to happen so you know it's working Thumbs Up

Thanks all; yep, I also feared I'd done something horrible to the car or got solid debris stuck in the brake disc. Suitably reassured Thumbs Up
