Grrrrr.... Couple of faults tonight - help please

Today we (well my mecanic mate actually - I just made the brews) changed the off side rear upper suspension arm and the off side front track rod and a couple of other bits on my D3.

On the way home my traction control kicked in a couple of times while driving around gentle bends and then the amber park brake fault light came on, the message centre reported a park brake fault followed by a transmission fault and the revs on tick over are surging from 1000 to 1500 rmp and back again constantly.

Any ideas anyone? Is it likely he has 'knocked' something underneath or not 'reset' something correctly or is it likely to be a coincidence?

The only other things to be aware of are
1, I have a blown stop light bulb awaiting replacement from a couple of days ago and
2, one of the tension springs in the gear box is awaiting replacement (could this cause the tranmission error? It has been 'waiting' for over a month with no problems prior to tonight).

I need to plug the fault code reader in tomorrow to see what codes it has logged, but I need to get to work in the morning so hope it is OK to drive as it is without blowing it up or such like... what do you think?

Sounds like your bulb maybe shorting the system out, they cause all sorts of strange faults
When you replace make sure you use a genuine bulb as non standard bulbs will cause you so much grief

Other that or you buddy may have done something to the height sensor, either wiring or link arm
 TLO has left the building.......

Or can this not be that the tracking is now out and the car is not liking it?

Thanks guys... I was thinking along both these lines... TLO I wont bother getting you to send me a bulb Laughing I will nip into the local dealer on Monday. I will get him to check the other bits tomorrow to be sure.

Transformer - my mate did say that I needed to get the tracking checked ASAP now he had done the work so this is a real possibility as well.

P.s. TLO - thanks for getting the bits to me super quick, your standard of service never fails to amaze me Thumbs Up

I might well be in touch for some steering bits yet... he keeps finding stuff everytime he does some work

Was thinking we may both be right, sort of 2 different faults?

Yep... I think the traction control cutting in is because the tracking needs sorting - to be expected after the work done I suppose.

I think the park brake and transmission error might be brake light related or because we have knocked something underneath - I will start with what TLO has suggested.

The reving up and down has got me at the moment, I don't see how that can be linked to either of the above, but I am far from any sort of expert on these matters, so will start with the simple things and probably end up spending a fortune trying to fix it before taking it to my local indie Whistle
