Considering a switch from D4 to D5 and wondering what our D4 might be worth as a trade in or private sale
it's a 2010 HSE Balmoral Blue/ mushroom interior, 40k miles in great condition. 12mths MOT, 8mts WD warranty, nearly new tyres, all pads/discs replaced and lower arms will be done before sale. FMDSH except last which was at marque specialist. Has Altox, tow pack, side steps, fridge, heated wheel.
Cars on Autotrader seem to be retailing at 20k - £23k for similar age/ mileage
Any and all advice welcome
thanks Mark

Have you tried WeBuAnycar?
They are generally not too far off the mark for the price you’d get for it as a trade in. In some instances they will pay a bit more than you’d get from the dealer.
Personally, I think your Auto Trader prices are too high, but you never know.

The highest price I was quoted for my 2015 D4 SE with 32k on the clock, Dealer serviced from new, stop start battery replaced December 2017, 2 years free servicing left and extras was £27.775.00
I managed to sell it privately for £28,000.00.
So I should imagine you are in for a shock

You could try Evans Halshaw to see if they can beat any WBAC offer.
The prices on this thread have certainly concerned me a bit as I want to trade up to L405 before the warranty ends on mine in 2019. 1970 RRC

My trade in price against a new D5 was £27500.00 from the dealer I bought it from and the warranty only expired two weeks before I was offered the trade in.

I’ve noticed the trade in prices aren’t good - not that they ever were, just got worse, but then someone’s got to pay fo the plush showroom and tailored shirts and latte.

I have a distant relation who has just traded his D4 in for a D5,
It was a 2016 HSE in Corris with just short of 69K miles, Full dealer history, servicing package (3years?) absolutely mint, everything heated, all seats, steering wheel etc. Rear camera, gear shift paddles, removeable towbar unused, piano black interior. He is a collar and tie guy so this inside was very fresh for the miles.
I was £57k new and he got £26K for it.

My Dealer not only has Latte but biscuits and cold drinks as well
It's worth it just to visit for the refreshments

I found that earlier this year, the dealer part exchange price was a £1k lower than WBA. When I told them this they suggested I sell the car to WBAC.

be aware that the anti diesel factor is strong at the moment
im trying to sell a c220 clc class merc and want only just above what WBAC have offered me and cant get any interest asking around seems diesels markets dead at the moment
although the merc is a car with many petrol versions available so there may be less of an issue on a disco
