Gurgling when stopped and engine running

Land Robert discovery 3 56 is gurgling when stationary they say this was a fault recalled and done but still does it was with previous owner. Any ideas. Also brakes seem to lock when braking suddenly

When you say "Lock" do you mean the pedal is hard or the ABS is activated? Gurgling and hard pedal is a sure sign of oil in the servo. You can check for oil by unplugging the vacuum pipe from the servo and using a cable tie or similar to dip it A number of forum members have had repeated problems even after the recall . Fortunately my 2005MY is still OK but I have just replaced the servo due to a vacuum leak.

If it’s not the brakes, it could be that the aircon needs regassing.

Yes it goes hard on the pedal. Bet this is an expensive fix.

It might be vacuum pump failure which causes oil to enter the brake servo making the pedal hard. There was a recall by LR for this and a subsequent modification to rectify. A photo of your brake servo and pipes entering will reveal if the mod has been done.

There is plenty of info available here on the forum if you do a search, a new pump is pricey but see if you have the modification done first and go from there.
