Following the expiry of my warranty, it was with a little trepidation that I had to book my car in for further work on the park brake.

Despite all the work done last October, the brake had ceased to hold the car when in Drive, and any sort of a hill would see the car rolling forward despite the (P) light showing. Also had a partial release which resulted in a slightly binding brake last week, that felt like blowout on the motorway and forced me to stop on the shoulder, the left rear disc was very hot indeed.

The fact that I use the car off-road occasionally, and it was 6 months since the last adjustment, and the fact that I have covered 10k miles since left me wondering if a charge for the work would be asked for.

I am glad to say that there was no charge, what matters to me is that I did not have to ask or argue for anything, despite new park brake shoes been required. Thumbs Up

Excellent news Thumbs Up

I'm happy with them at the moment too - they've solved my engine and handling concerns (patched up a hole in the EGR pipe/flange and replaced some steering rack ends, or something) and only charged me for the broken mirror glass I asked them to replace.

And they lent me a manual D3 (great fun!) without charging for it

Question Rob, has the egr work solved your fluctuating rpm under load? Because mine is doing it same as ever. I towed the caravan to the Lakes the other week, and it was particularly noticable when in top gear up a slight incline.

I cant fault GS Stockport at the moment - very impressed with them after my recent purchase

About to drop some observations into them this wednesday (pitted wheels that can't be cleaned after 2 weeks use!!!!! , wing mirror dipping not working in reverse, tailgate not locking, hopeless voice recognition and TMC not working....ever.....) and I would like to know their response to those few........although it may be that I am not using them properly!!!!

I'll drop some comments in here about them when I see how good they are for me

MX, I'm not sure if you had voice on your D3, but I presume the RRs is the same. Make sure you set the voice language to English Female. She is much more obedient than the US male Thumbs Up

Make sure your TMC channel is set in the settings of the sat nav. It needs to be set to Classic FM in the UK.

Tried it again this morning - revs fluctuating under partial load Crying or Very sad

I have one old EGR valve and one new one. I suspect the old one is fine - otherwise it would probably have been replaced.

I'm not sure I'm too concerned about it - but it sounds like its much worse on yours Crying or Very sad

Probably no worse than it ever was, the rpm needle bounces about + /- 100 rpm on a one second cycle when under mid range power, its apparent when climbing an incline, its worse with a load in the car, and even worse with a caravan in tow.

The thing thats got me thinking about the EGR issue is that if I open the window, occasionally under the right circumstances, I can hear a faint intermittant whooshing noise in time with the fluctuation.

I seem to be noticing it more these days. Thanks for the comparison though Thumbs Up
