Given that they managed to get CVV information (which BA almost certainly don't keep) it looks like the hack was of their web interface. In other words, as customers were typing in their info at the point of sale, the data was being skimmed off to the hackers. Can't see why RU would find that useful. Probably something less sinister, although a pain in the bum for those who've lost their data.

Usually, when someone gets a bunch of complete credit card info what happens is they use it to order a lot of kit from places that do not verify cc billing address against delivery address (for example amazon is one such place).

Also, typically, credit card thieving scum are not interested in where Hugh Hefner or Bertie Wooster lives in the sense that they would they appear at either’s mansion.

amazing this appears to have gone on for a fortnight and no alarm bells rang...its going to cost our national airline £500 million in fines..and a lot of embarresment

BA is an embarrasment and the frequent flier program just gets better and better all the time.... although it was well on the way down already before Mr. budget airline took over as CEO. Mr. Green
