Halogen Projector Lights on D4 query versus bi-xenons
Hi
I am looking at a used Discovery 4 GS MY11 with what looks to me like xenons, however on closer inspection it seems they look the same from the front (the fish bowl ball) but are likely to be projector halogens.
Reason I ask is that my previous Disco 3 had bi-xenons with cornering and adaptive and I loved them.
Can anyone compare the headlight and main beam of halogen projector versus bi-xenon please? Will I regret not finding a suitable car with bi-xenons?
I am not so bothered about the fairy lights, cornering or adaptive it's the raw light performance that I would like to compare.
Thanks all
crasha

When we got our 2nd hand D4 I felt the lights ( non xenon) were c P compared to my Merc with zenons
Replaced the bulbs immediately to some enhanced ones. Not quite zenons but a Big improvement . And much cheaper upgrade D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all

Thanks, when looking at pictures it appears the halogen projectors have very similar (fish bowl like) lens units to bi-xenons so difficult to see if a vehicle has one or the other.
I (wrongly) assumed that all Disco4's have xenons as the headlights all look the same online ... and that the only upgrade/option was the twinkly fairy lights and adaptive/cornering...
There are a few on here (me included ) who have put Philips xtreme bulbs in.
I have them in dipped & main
I upgraded to xenons on my old D3, but not bothered with D4 as Ithink the +100 xtreme bulbs get pretty close and the projector jobbies give a much better beam over the old D3 halogens.
As others have said... its a lot cheaper too Cheers Ian

Personally, I prefer the D4 Projector Halogens with Philips xtreme bulbs than the old D3 Xenon's. Better spread of light especially on dip.

Thanks all, put my mind at rest that modern halogen projectors are good with top quality bulbs fitted... in the current weather my Defender needs a man out the front with a flaming torch :-) I should be back in a Disco within a week over from the Deafener2 site...
