What happens technically with each terrain response setting

Hi all,

Just recently got my Disco3 so still getting used to pressing buttons instead of levers. Laughing

Technically, what happens by selecting any of the terrain response settings, especially wrt the centre and rear difflocks? When to they engage and when not?

Thanks
George

It is pretty much a self managing system. All you have to do is tell the vehicle what you are doing and the electronics do the rest. Although, it won't disobey the laws of physics.

The different modes alter the throttle response, suspension settings and center/rear diff lock strategy. They also employ the HDC system. Any of these systems except the throttle map and the diff locks can be over ridden by the driver with the appropriate switch/button.

Many 'old school' metal gears and lever types simply don't trust the electronics to do a good job, but as a driver of old and new LR's. I can assure you it works very well indeed Thumbs Up

Thank you Gareth. I noticed throttle differences when testing the settings over the weekend.

Logically it would make sense that the rear difflock only engages with the "Mud/Ruts" and "Rock Crawling" settings, although the centre difflock I would imagine activating on all the settings apart from the standard setting.
