I have had a D3 v8 for nearly 3 years now... bought it with 58k miles on it, now at 111,000.
Absolutely love it to bits..... facelifted it to 2014 D4, inc full interior change. Been remapped, not sure the fuel consumption is as bad as people make it..... I live in Cheshire and work in the lakes. Car spends most if its life on the m6 or lakes roads..... I am getting near 400 miles to the tank! Given the positives over the diesel..... noise, throttle response, lighter, power etc... I can't complain. J
That's about 22mpg, only time I have got to that sort of economy was driving it like a granny on the motorway!! Normal on petrol is more like 17-18mpg on mostly rural roads, does 14-15 on lpg.
Would love to know more about the remap.==================================

1st MOT in my ownership today. 54,600 mls Passed with no advisories
Had my local indy fit new rear discs and pads, plus yellow stuff front pads and some new front poly arb bushes.
Garage I purchased from had already fitted new front discs and replaced the corroded brake lines, so brakes are sorted for a good while now.

V8 will give you years of trouble free driving as long as you do services on time. Possible repairs are rear diff bearings, one front hub bearing, tail gate latch, thermostat and expansion tank and an 02 sensor.

SafariDave, you mention rear diff bearings. Have you any experience of refurbishing the rear diff?

Thought egr valves were only in diesel engines.
Now +1 on knowledge.
Last trip the V8 Iost power many times.
Switch off, switch on...move a few meters...then power loss.
Floor acceletor no response.
Possible causes:
Fuel pump?
EGR valves?

At 103,000 the rear diff bearings were replaced, at 106,000 the right front wheel hub bearings were replaced. Still drives great!

Dave,
I'm in N NJ. Who did your rear diff and do you mind telling me what you paid?
