Hazard Warning Lights

Woke up this morning and as per usual, i look out of the window to check on the cars on the drive below (not that i live in a rough area or anything).
Noticed immediately that the "alarm" (but no sound) was going on my D3, immediately fearing the worst, that some scrote had decided to take a closer look at the inside, i bounded down stairs whilst getting dressed.

Outside looking closer at the car, nothing was amiss, all windows in tact, doors closed. Opened car, hazards still flashing, key in ignition, hazards still going... seriously confused at this point, alarm going, no sound and the key won't stop the hazards flashing.
Moment of clarity - press hazard button. Lights stopped flashing.....

I'm guessing that because of the cold weather that the dashboard had contracted and triggered the hazards (the hazard button on my D3 is rather stiff and once pressed is very difficult to turn off again.)

Anybody else had the same issue?

I too have problems with hazard warning light switch, posted recently, one or two replies. Although the lights don't operate themselves, it is difficult to switch them off once set and I have to prod the switch numerous times to before it eventually operates.

Replies to my posting indicate that this problem has been experienced before and is easily rectified by the dealer. I will get the job done on my next service, due soon.

Sorry, don't know what causes it.
