HDC and Brake Pedal lights- police laughing!
I parked outside a police station at lunch time to give them a piece of my mind and let them know what i thought of them. After a rant with the CID i stormed off to my disco which was parked right in front of the station turned it on and just cranked! HDC Failure pops up and then Brake pedal. Cranked 4-5 times it turns but does not start. Police are now outside cracking up! Had to be picked up in X trail and need some help- what is the cause???

I don't want to re-quote the same bit that Tanters' did, but it is bloody funny
Possible causes:
1. The battery on your 3-4 year old D3 is worn out....change it / charge it and see if it fixes it
2. You've changed the brake lamp bulbs and the filamente are shorting out....change them for LR sourced ones and see if it fixes it
3. None of the above
Or the most likely option, remembering back to Beverly Hills Cop...
4. After annoying the local police, one of them went out and stuck a banana up each exhaust pipe. If the choice was either that or shooting you, I guess you got off lightly
PS. In case you speak to a local dealer, it's probably the EPB failure lamp and not the brake pedal failure lamp. And try not to shout at them too much.2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
Eh? That post makes no sense at all Discotres, there's orphanages in the UK too, does that mean we shouldn't have Disco's and X Trails over here? Or is it just your blinkered view of what you expect an African country to be like? The End

I must find out the rules about countries that have orphanages and what cars we are allowed to drive- last time I checked I personally was not asking for donations....
Anyway back to the car, took it to my local LR dealer, changed the battery no difference. I was then informed that Land Rover dealer in Malawi does not have the diagnostic equipment! Genius I t ell you. The mechanic phoned me to tell me he is looking for a manual! Brilliant- when iadvised that there was one in my car he seemed shocked!
HELP!
Maybe I should just opt for a horse and cart (if thats allowed) as I know how to diagnose a horse!
I know a man who could tell you, but it might cost you a pony I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I suppose that would that be a 1hp vehicle then ... you could 'modchip' it by adding a second horse Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Welcome kksav, an answer to the shoe problem......when I lived in Nairobi the locals did a fantastic job of fashioning footwear out of car tyres...and you know, since your Disco is going to be out of action for a while..the tyres could at least be of some use to the wife! And i can't believe that comment on the orphanage - lighten up!!!!!
