HDC Fault!
Hi all, I am looking for some advice with a fault with the stop/tail lamps on my disco 3. I was out a few days ago and the dreaded bongs started, the screen on the dash informed me that there was a fault with the HDC and all special programs were off, then the suspension lowered and I had to drive home on the bump stops. I checked previous posts and found the most likely candidates were the battery or the stop/tail lamps. I have since replaced both with genuine parts from my local stealer, but to no avail. When i remove both stop/tail lamps the fault does not occur. Any help with this would be appreciated.
Alan,
Could be any number of things. It happened to me on my way back home from Aberdeen and it turned out to be a cable fault and a new loom had to be made and fitted. Trouble is there are so many critical systems linked together which if anything fails shuts you down and puts you into "safe" mode it's almost impossible to guess. Regards, Trev.

Hi Alan,
As you say that the fault does not re-occur with the stop/tail lights removed it may be worth checking the light sockets and the contacts to ensure effective contact.
Best Wishes,

I have checked the lamp holders and all contact points are clean and tight on the lamp I am going to try and supply the stop/tail lamp from the high level brake light as a temp mesure. If that works I think its most likely to be the wiring loom which wont be cheap

Could be the battery on the way out. Was getting those warnings, esp after short journey in well sub zero temps. Changed batt & not had fault back.
