On switching on the car today the display said (something like) 'HDC fault HDC not operational'. Switching the car off and back on again it didnt come back. This happened once last week. Any ideas?
Also... I have the automatic door locking and overspeed warning on but today they didn't work - they were both set to off but I'm sure it's nothing I had done.

Mmm... not sure, it starts fine. The voltage level on the diagnostics screen said around 11.5v with the car not running if I remember correctly when I went there last week. Cant remember if this is good or bad though. Will have to have look if theres a condition indicator on it.

I had exactly the same fault after I picked up my new 2nd hand D3.
Stealer changed the battery and no problems since.

At 11.5 v thats just about enough to start the old girls, they are very power hungry and like battery's in perfect condition, I havent experienced that problem yet, but from reading on here ( yes sad i know) low battery power does throw up weird things, have a search on here and see what you find,
also is the battery original, if so at 5 yrs old i would say its about spent. You could try a trickle charge for a day and see how you go.

I get this same problem every year as soon as the weather gets cold, on start up I get a bong followed by HDC not available, as soon as the car has been running for 15 seconds it goes off and all is fine. Probably a battery issue, but mine is hanging in there.

Mine does it occasionally. Charged the battery recently, as I have used the car very little since May, and it has not happened since .

Ah, okay... looks like I'll be going to the battery people tomorrow and they can load test it. Better to have a new battery (more money.... ) than to be stranded and can't start the car (dont want the anti 4x4 guys sniggering)

The short journeys over here don't help much either, especially in winter with lights and heated windows, etc switched on. I tend to give the battery a bit of a charge two or three times over the winter and the occasional drive down the west coast in second gear.

Went to get the battery checked, they said it was fine but needed a decent charge. So will connect to the charger and see what happens
