Hdc fault transmission fault engine system fault
Hi,
My car decided to throw dummy out yesterday 10 mile from home after a 200 mile trip.
It happened on the m1 when dash lit up like a Christmas tree with the faults mentioned in the title.
Turned it off restarted it, it got me home. But it's got a lot worse, I don't even have to move it now and it plays up.
I've been reading up on the known causes. So far I've changed
Brake bulbs
Brake switch
New battery
New fuel filter
Admittinley tho after changing the fuel filter I did manage to get 10 mile out of it earlier before it packed In.
On the circuit tester battery is at 12.5 volts fire it up and the volts rise to 13.7v and stay there.
If I switch everything on ie lights heater and heated windows it drops to 12.v on tickover if I rev it it goes to low 13's
To me it's the alternators knackered but there's threads where people say should be above 14v and overs saying it's mid 13's.
Can anybody share any information on this as it is doing my nut in now. Many thanks

Have you got a diagnostic tool? If so you might start there as your battery and alternator numbers seem OK at this point.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Yes I've borrowed a friend's Delphi laptop this evening and got the following codes
P0087
P0088
P0101
And 2 u codes but can't remember them.
Deleted the codes went for a spin and now I have only the p0087 code back fuel rail/pressure too low

When mine threw up those faults it was an ABS wheel sensor
Diagnostics quickly pointed out which one it was

I'd suggest you start with checking the connections to the fuel rail pressure sensor, the MAP sensor and the MAF, as well as everything else under the engine cover! It is good practice to remove and clean the MAP sensor as it becomes clogged regularly. Nothing too challenging there so see how it goes after that.
You say you replaced the fuel filter amongst other items, did you fit a quality filter?yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Hi sorry I've not replied I'm a lorry driver and I'm away all week. I've done the things you said and today decided to drop
The tank and change the lpfp, so cleaned tank out new pump installed new filter went for a spin and lasted 25 minutes before it packed In again. So I'm thinking hpfp now.

I understand that you are away a lot, but the temptation to throw parts at the problem is not the best way to achieve the desired results. You say you checked the sensor connections under the bonnet, but are you getting the same codes coming up? If so it really doesn't point at the hpfp. I would suggest you check again the connections, paying particular attention to the MAF (air flow meter) and MAP, as well as the fuel pressure regulator. Also, are you just reading the engine ecu? If so you will need to read all the modules and note the codes before clearing them. Take your time, check everything, and be methodical yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I’m having exactly the same issue, had the car less than 5 weeks, so far it’s had brake light switch, bulbs, new battery, fuel filter, both high and low pressure pumps, set of injector leak off pipes and it’s still the same, although I’m getting different fault codes to the one I had when it first happened. Been through every sensor on the engine and everything reads ok. Going to try a genuine fuel filter Tuesday but I’m not holding out much hope to be honest.

Hi Justin_g, if I'm reading your post correctly that sounds like a whole lot of expense for no result! Have you the codes of the original issue, and those of where you are now? If so it might be worth considering starting a new thread as otherwise your issues and that of Dave1983 could get a bit tricky / mixed up to say the least yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Well I had my car dropped off at John Hogg diesel in Sheffield this week. And this afternoon gets a phone call
Your injectors are out of tolourence and we've found metal fragments in the fuel filter,l.
Gutted is an understatement as I'll have had it 9 month tomorrow and still 27 month left to pay on it

Dave, did you get to the bottom if this? I have the same faults and have replaced the obvious culprits. Starting to look at fuel system now.
