Can anyone tell me how HDC is supposed to work on a manual gearbox D4? I drove one today and HDC appeared to be faulty, no lights and no function.
How is is supposed to work, in all gears, only in certain terrain modes, how?
Thanks Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done

Manual D4? In may manual D3 it certainly works up to 4th gear not problems. Not tried it in any higher gear.

I can't tell you how it works but it certainly does.
I use it if the need arises & it certainly makes a difference. I tried it with & without on Silverstone's off-road course. Only tried it in 1st but it was slower & more controlled decent with it engaged.
Speedo binicle (R hand side) should have a little picture of a LR going downhill when it is engaged. Nothing fancy, just a simple outline drawing, it's green if memory serves. Nick

ps: On the occasions I've used it it has always been in 'mud/ruts', I haven't tried it in any other settings so don't know if it works in all. When you engage M/R hill descent is on by default but you can switch it off if you don't want it using the switch below the terrain response dial. Nick

It's all down to the computers !!
Try putting it in nutral when you're at the top of the decent and taking your feet of the pedals, it works ! .....................but do make sure you ARE in HDC !!
