My Head is Going to Explode :)

Hi Everyone,

Without going into detail my current Disco (Land Rover Product No 9) has passed the 3yr mark and in need or replacement. Need some advice on three points:

- Currently thinking of a new RRS instead of a fully loaded Disco HSE but with the lack of space and also AUD$40k difference I cant quite sign up for one. One of the reasons is the Disco is getting quite old with old tech and the new RRS has all the new tech inside. Has anyone else looked at a new RRS as a replacement to a Disco?

- Anyone have the extended leather pack, is it any good, worth the money?

- Dealer thinks MY14 will start building in October, has anyone heard anything else as I would like to order a facelifted Disco.

Thanks everyone and should stop my head exploding making this decision.

Hi, regarding the D4 I cannot get any news on an imminent face lift, indeed all points to there not being one released for the foreseeable.

The MY14 colours (Loire Blue and Corris Grey) are already released and available to order, so I've ordered for early September delivery on the premise that I want a new car then and whatever and whenever I buy it will be out of date within a year at the outset.

I like the way they look just now too Thumbs Up

Wait until a current model is about to be replaced. That way LR might have sorted out some of the issues. Their new models are never developed before being released to the public. Why spend money on development when Joe Public will do it for free? Wink

I'm in the same position between a new D4 and the soon to be released RRS. I find the load capacity useful in the D4 but don't really use anything other than the snow capability around the Penines in winter. Oh, that and it's one of the most comfortable cars I've ever owned Very Happy

Honestly if it was my money and i had that much i'd still be a tight wad and buy a 6month old disco HSE with toys and keep the money in the bank as the new RRS is not worth the uplift IMO of being in both cars, albeit the Disco 4 XS&HSE models more from MY10-13 and you'll regret waiting for a new RRS.

Yes it will be a bit quicker and a bit lighter and a bit less thirsty, but the interior really isn't what i would call Range Rover but more Evoque-esk and certainly not worth £50k+ brand new.

Stick with a Disco if you want any usability from your vehicle as i cant understnad how the interior of the new SSRR is so small once your inside it Sad

You can't get a 5.0 supercharged petrol engine in the D4.....

Agreed. The Discovery is by a massive margin the best and most practical combination of capability. I just wish it had loads more go.

A Bluefin remap & dropping into "sand" mode in terrain response gives me more "go" than I can cope with.... Rolling with laughter

IIRC the 5.0SC is about £81k STARTING price so that can buy a brand new HSE, the engine direct from LR and a decent amount of money to make it fit!

Or ask JLR, 'For £81k i want a Disco 4 with ALL the toys, including that nice 5.0sc and 8speed box thanks.'

They amy say no but i bet there are enough companies around that would do it Smile

Yes, I just specced one up. With loads of nice options and a seriously cool interior it's £87k.

I don't think they can do the petrol (with or without a supercharger) in the D4 for the UK market as it's not type approved.

Doesnt really need type approval if it can pass SVA and subsequent MOT's should be fine Smile

Is that right if it's sold new by its manufacturer?
