Head unit & Bluetooth connection

Just brought my first Landrover discovery 3 HSE and I am most impressed (was a shogun/pajero owner Censored)....I have a few questions for the “old sweats” and yes I have used the search function Very Happy . Ok here goes I have the logic 7 system and my iPhone 7 won’t play ball with the head unit, it finds it under Bluetooth and connects using code 0000 but that’s it.....doesn’t show on the head unit as being connected and when I press the green phone tab on the steering wheel the head unit was showing “phone mode” but was stuck like that and unresponsive until I switched the ignition off and back on, so if anyone can throw some light on this I’d be very grateful.

Second question is......if I fit a after market touchscreen (apple CarPlay) will my top screen still work, not really bothered about the sat nav but would like to keep the 4x4 info screen, read quite a few threads on headunits but none seem to address this, don’t really want to go down the route of FM transmitters as I want to try keep everything simple ish.

Many thanks chaps

You may need to have the blue tooth unit updated to a newer version of upgrade the unit to a D4 modual the site sponsors on here do them look under disco3 and you can search them and regarding the head unit you need to keep the head unit connected as it controls the touch screen the bluetooth and anything else on the most circuit people have done it by hiding it away some ware not sure where though Thumbs Up

You can’t update the Bluetooth unit if it pairs with 0000

There pretty useless .. it’s a landrover aftermarket kit

You could rip the whole Bluetooth wiring loom out and retrofit the factory Bluetooth kit ..but it would need enabling once fitted
