Headlight not working
Morning All,
Went out last night and found my new to me 2010 D4 near side headlight is not working. Main beam seems to work, side lights work, indicators work and the rear is all working fine.
To rule things out can i swap the whole units over and test?
I cant see an individual head light fuse, and the things I have found seems to suggest if the fuse had gone the side lights, and rear lights would also be out.

Swapped sides and the fault stays with the faulty headlight unit..

Sounds like the bulb could be blown. Can you take it out and see or swap just that over. If it's xenon be careful you don't get a shock.

Halogens or xenons? Filling in profile would help with that. Surely just needs check the manual for bulb type and a stop at local car parts place or Halfords for a bulb, then fit it yourself?

It has xenons... I would be tempted to sort myself, but its under warranty so if I let them do it then its going to be free - I just wanted to check the fuse first, but couldn't find it - Hence the question about fuses and swapping full units over. I found the answer on an old thread about moving and this has proved its a fault with the headlight.
I will update my profile now.

True, makes sense if xenons as D3S bulbs are quite expensive. Somehow I was thinking of halogens or D3 D2S xenons. There is no fuse for the headlights, they are on FETs. Whatever they are.
If they replace one they'll prob have to replace both to colour match, worth hanging on to the good "old" bulb as an emergency spare.

Absolutely simple. Disconnect plus at back for 30 mins, take cover off and then remove bulb, will have a rummage & see if I can find a "how to" on it but it is so easy even I can do it. Swapping bulbs would confirm bulb dead, not bit of light. Good thinking Batman.
This show should most of the steps but I think for halogens.
Still looking for xenon specific.
On a RR but similar, just skip to 2:20.
PS Seen posts saying the 30 minutes isn't needed but I did when changing my D3 bulb.

Hmm - I am happy getting the head lights out, but the actual bulb is a little harder. I guess they have been in since new...

From memory I think there is a lock ring that you have to twist to release the bulb on D3S bulbs . It's kind of below the square bit of the bulb where the wire is attached. I also seem to remember that you have to take the wire off first which is extremely fiddly.

Car has been into the garage to sort the bulb, and they replaced it for a new one and its blow again..
So it must be the headlight unit, and glad I didn't try and swap the bulb as I would have two blown.

Normally if the garage is dealing with a problem under warranty before the warranty runs out and it's their fault it's not fixed by the time the warranty runs out they would still fix it regardless. But I would make it clear with them now preferably in writing.

Within 14 days I can return it for a full refund with. I penalty, so that's the motivation to get it fixed.
