hey all,
I've had my '06 LR3 for a few weeks now and no problems except this annoying
bit of heat coming from the driver's footwell. Its not like I can tell where its coming from. but
you can certainly feel it and forces you to open the windows or turn the AC on. When I touch the
plastic panels below the steering wheel or around the console, they feel a tad warm, is that normal
after the car has been driven for sometime?
Any ideas where the heat in the footwell is coming from? Could it be related to the exhaust heat shields?
thx for any pointers.
Danny

under the steering wheel column is a little flap that directs ventilation. Could it be this you are feeling? The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I think I've noticed the same as fondo-d. It's not the nut warming vent under the wheel but the actual interior plastic panels getting hot. Mine's an automatic which means my left leg is usually resting against the side of the centre console. On long journey's this gets uncomfortably hot on my shin, even when I'm driving with my trousers on!

I seem to have the same issue, since the colder weather has come and heating has been turned up higher my left leg has been getting hot whilst resting next to the H trim area. When i put my hand against it seems excessively hot on the H trim and slightly lower towards the pedals, to the point where i have to turn the heating on the drivers side to cool or i overheat There is no heat build up on the passenger side of the H console trim. Anybody have any ideas?

Have you had the foam sock mod to the sensor done? Or even simpler is the little vent to the left of the steering wheel blocked with dust? “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Will check on the vent being blocked later today but what is the 'foam sock mod to the sensor'?

Early models had problems with temps being odd. A piece of foam was put over the sensor to moderate the influence of external temps affecting it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I have exactly this too - very warm trim panel.
I've also the issue where I have to keep increasing the temp dial to get hot air. Realise that some will mention about the foam sock - but it's been fine for the last 3 years... Wondering if there's another thermistor somewhere near the h trim that's causing both issues... 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Weird thing is, I cannot find the source of the heat... it just seems to be warm all around the pedals/trim area...
I cannot detect an inflow of warm air... I have stuck my head in there and its nice and toasty.
I am thinking more like engine/exhaust heat getting into the footwell somehow!
Maybe the engine bay does not dissipate heat that well and ends up heating the trim? I noticed a lot of heat
around the wheel wells after the car was driven for like 40 minutes...could be a normal thing for this size V8, wouldnt know since I am still a new owner.

Hi fondo_d,
A difficult question to answer but, if you are prepared to ship my TDV6 D3 and me to Lebanon (and return), we could do a direct comparison.
