Heated windshield Disco 3 |
|
Wandering around the forum I saw a lot of discussion on how to install the heated windshield on discovery 3.
Unfortunately no one has satisfied my curiosity as I have not found a real solution for this reason I open this new discussion.
The first thing I would like to see is if a heated windshield is already installed on my Discovery 3 and if the wiring is already present. Does anyone know exactly what I need to look for?
I also read that two fuses and a relay are needed. I would like to know exactly which ones.
Thanks for your help

Do you have the button for it? Looks like the one for the rear heated screen but with sloped sides to the window icon to indicate it is the front one.

If you have the button chances are it is all there. Take of the trim on the edge of the screen (inside the vehicle) - you need to pop off the airbag badge to get to the screw underneath. That is where the connectors to the screen are (two each side, the two halves of the screen are powered seperately). If they are there, turn on the front heated screen and check for voltage between the two connectors on one side, if you see 12v then it is the screen that has failed (quite common with non Pilkington screens), if you don't see 12v then you are looking for a fault in the vehicle, start with the obvious fuses, then relays.

I have come across an ex fleet vehicle where their policy was always to fit the cheapest possible screen, so even though the vehicle was fitted for a heated screen it had been replaced for a non heated one at some point....
