Heated Windshield Glare?

Hi there,

Anyone else find glare at night from the little metal lines running through the windshield to be overly distracting? Headlights and brakelights light it up in a fuzzy haze.

The lines are mildly distracting during the day--I hope I can get used to it--but it night it almost seems like a safety hazard.

Thoughts?

I recon you should be looking a little further up the road!

Seriously though, once you get used to it your eyes won't focus on near-field objects such as the fine wires in the screen.

Do you wear spectacles? Perhaps your prescription requires a slight alteration.

Oh, and welcome! Thumbs Up

We've had a Ford in our family with the same screen for 5 years and I can say that you quickly get used to it.

Great technology. I'm surprised that Ford have not licensed it more widely as every car should have it!

Aston Martin used to have it, when they were part of the Ford family, but not sure if they still can offer it..

Thanks for the welcome! I love my LR4! Can't wait to get it off road and see what it can do.

I hope you guys are right about getting used to the wires. During the day it's not as bad, but drove again tonight at night and the glare off the wires was somewhat disconcerting. On one of the other forums I saw something about LR maybe changing vendors for the windscreen in 2010 and it's possibly worse than it used to be on the LR3s.

I'll have my dealer check it out when I bring it back for my complimentary detailing in a few weeks (it was pouring rain when I picked it up) and I'll keep everyone posted!

Welcome Thumbs Up

Ive had heated winscreens for many years now, and yes, when you first get on the habit is to look at them cos they are there !!!. once you ignore them and focus on the road they are unnoticable.

Great in cold and wet weather though. and also good when you put a hot cup of coffee on the dash board !!

Takes a little while to get used to it, but you only need one heavy frost to never complain again... (though if you're in California I don't know how long that will be?!)
