Heater/air conditioning

Hi,
Have had some problems with the heater unit on my 05 disco 3 HSE.
Some times it comes on and sometimes the heater motor won't come on at all.
Have had some sound from heater motor, so this was switched today, but unfortunally noe change.

Pressed the off button a number of times, and then the motor suddenly blew air.
But if I stop the car, and start it again, it's not certain it comes on.

I deleted all fault codes on the car last week, but don't know it any has come back.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour?
Any tips?

My wife is starting to get tired of the car...

Does it start once the engine warms up a bit? It deliberately does not blow air with a cold engine, or you'll be freezing your bo$$ocks off ... especially in northern Norway!!!

No it acts the same, wether the car is cold or warm.

Yes it's cold here now, and had hoped the fan motor was the problem.

The worst is that I can't go anywhere with the kids. if the heater desides not to work this day.

No the heating in the seats and the windscreen works fine, so my ass can manage Smile And I can still look out the front screen

There is details on this site on how to reset the heater/climate system, might be worth having a look for them and trying it Smile

I spent about 20 minutes trying different combinations of words that I thought might find it, but couldn't.

I'm sure one of the mods posted the details up! No idea how long ago though Sad

I have found out just yesterday, that wiggling on the heater relay, the fan starts.
But it seems that it will not "hold" the relay, and when I drop the pressure the fan stops.
(Hard to describe, that one..)

Anyway, can the relay function a bit, or is it either working or not??
I will order a new relay, but if it is a bad contact, how to fix?
How do I get the wire connectors tightened under where the relay is mounted?

Change the relay and all will work again. This fault is never found on any diagnostic system!

Does the relay just pull staight up?
Think I will swap with one that is not in use(R10), and check if it gets better.

yes they pull straight up. they are standard 12V relays that you can buy at most big stores, jumbo, obi, conrad ....
There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song
