Heater self test

Hi all

On the way back from the MOT garage today, feeling good about having a fresh 12 months ticket, I noticed that the passenger side windows weren't demisting the same as the drivers side.

On closer examination I found that the passenger side air is only lukewarm while the drivers side gets toasty hot. The temperature control on the passenger side just adjusts from cold to lukewarm.

I read on here about blend motor problems, but also that the heating system should be self tested first or reset ? How do I do that ?

I have a GAP IID tool, can the heating system be diagnosed with that in any way ?

Thanks

Mat

Try this I found on here

Ok, next step is the self test.

With ignition off press and hold the ECON & RECIRC buttons whilst turning ignition on (no need to start car).

The control module will then compare the current HEVAC actuator motor positions with the values stored in the module and will indicate an error by flashing the ECON LED.

If there are no errors, the LED will go out and the system will function normally.

To confirm that there are no errors, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then back to the ON position.

Observe the operation of the programmed defrost LED.

If there are errors present, the programmed defrost LED will flash and the system will attempt to calibrate itself.

Post results on here!

yes I think it maybe a problrm with the matrix

I did the reset and it was all ok.

If I run the blower and move the temperature control from cold to hot I can hear the air path changing, same on both driver and passenger sides, which would seem to indicate that the blend motor is working correctly ?

So after half an hour reading here it would appear its the matrix, always seems to affect passenger side in UK vehicles... I'll try back flushing it.

Thanks

Hi, random question.
Could it be to do with the fact that most cars are occupied by the driver most of the time, so the drivers side gets more use? Just a thought I’ve had a couple of glasses of wine.

Tried the reset and the cal check.
Results are:
ECON flashing, released both ECON and RECIRC buttons;
ECON continued flashing for couple of seconds, then went out;
Heating came on AUTO;
IGN off and on;
No PROG demist LED.

Look like all checked ok and no recalibrate

However I know I have no pressure in aircon.

Heating still takes ages but I had found the heat sensor behind small grill next to steering column had its housing uncliped and fallen inside.
