Find another dealer! But they will get nowhere with LR and you’ll get the “everything is working to design intent” boldocks. Obviously they employ complete idiots as design engineers. Rolling Eyes

This is something LR hopes will just fall off the 3 year warranty cliff. It’s an old model so you’re no longer important. The fact that you spent a lot of money on a car that does a good impression of a fridge is of no importance to them, if you want to be important buy a D5. Thumbs Up

Well after writing to Dr Ralf Speth on this subject, my car goes into the dealer next Weds, with the case being followed / co-ordinated by the "executive" office. I have requested that the investigation is not simply a repeat of what has been done before as this did not resolve the issue.

I will advise of findings and any action taken when I have any update towards the end of next week.

Cheers - Paul

Mine goes in mid May 6 weeks before my manufacturers warranty expires so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers

Well guys - I am absolutely amazed to have received a telephone call from the JLR Executive Office this afternoon following my letter to Dr Speth almost three weeks ago........basically there will be no further investigation on my vehicle as JLR considers it is working to the design intent. Unbelievable as it was due to go into the dealership this Weds, an appointment that was made almost two weeks ago, so in other words they are completely dismissing the issue without any further investigation.

I will have confirmation in writing by Thursday this week - no explanation as to why the car can control things for the first 30 minutes or so of a journey, but after that it cannot !

The next step for me is Autoexpress - those I have PM'd in the past I guess will have no problem joining me with this...........

If anyone else would like to write to Autoexpress, I am happy to provide the letter as a template and the powerpoint that I sent to JLR - I expect that the more that hit their letterbox, the more likely they will pick this up and help us. I will also research Watchdog and again if anyone is interested, then please PM me.

One very disappointed, despondent, but determined Landrover Discovery 4 2016MY £45k car owner !!!

Thanks - Paul

Not a surprise but their treatment of customers is truely appalling. That they can’t get something as fundamental as heating working in cars that cost £55k beggars belief. They should hang their heads in shame but they don’t give a Censored .

The more I read about JLRs lack of response and design intent the more I will stay with the D3 until it runs no more. Its disgraceful the way they deal with legacy products.

Paul, disappointed, but not overly surprised that your issue has just been dismissed.
As you're aware (from PMs), mine was into dealership for same issue - they confirmed that a few other customers had experienced the issue but on looking into it, that is how its supposed to work - even when in manual mode, once the engine is up to temperature, the car will try to maintain an “ambient” temperature in the cabin. He agreed that its reasonable to expect that in manual mode, the driver is in full control.....but that’s not how it has been designed!!! Dealership therefore cannot do anything more.

Happy to support you in raising this with Autoexpress

Shame it doesn’t actually work and allows LR to say “your car is fixed sir, it’s now working to design intent”.

So the sensor wasn’t ever and still remains effectively disconnected from the air in the cabin whose temperature it’s supposed to me measuring. About as effective as a chocolate fire guard.
Out with the IR thermometer it is then....
