Help - battery issues

I was doing a much overdue internal clean on the car today but made sure the lights etc were off - but the battery is now flat... Went tostart it and it said start car battery low - but just not enough juice to turn it over - clock went wild - lots of clicking etc

Lifted bonnet to see battery like this... Is this white stuff normal???

I need to move the car and get it started
Can I just attach the battery charger whilst battery still connected to the car as really dont fancy removing it.

Can you jump start a Discovery 4?

home one of your techies can help as I've blocked my wife and son in on the drive and cannot move the car

You should be able to charge it in situ, the ctek chargers don't require the battery to be disconnected.

You could do with removing that battery terminal (open a window and let the car go to sleep first). Give it a good wire brushing to get all the white oxidation off, then replace with a good smearing of Vaseline to protect it. Probably best do the negative terminal too. Thumbs Up

Boil the kettle and pour the water over the corroded battery terminal instant clean Thumbs Up
Allow to dry thoroughly then apply a little of your favourite lube, job done.
Well worth changing all interior/door lamp bulbs to led versions.
