Help, My clutch is starting to slip

I had to vertake a JCB the other day on a uphill grade, no problem but at the top of the hill, had the problem of no gear selection indicator, brake warning light up etc!

Reset it as per the brilliant notes in here, but it did it again last night.

So, here I have:
2006 D3,
36,000 miles, no aggresive driving, no clutch riding, and rarely pull a caravan, (twice a year and relatively short distances) (I have a manky old 90 for dragging rubbish about)

Has had full main dealer service history.

So armed with the knowledge of the great here, went to my local dealers, the ones who normally service the D3, described my faults and the answer was that will be £1.1k sir......and possibly more if its a flywheel too.

I asked about the prodict change on the quality of the compound of the material used in the clutch, he said he didnt know of any problems with the compounds, and the item they fit is the same as they have always fitted with the part No. so I sent him to look for the 2006 bulletin, he came back sometime later and stated that there had been a bulletin, and guess what the part numbers were different.....down to compounds and the fact that the new clutches are of a heavier duty???/

Anyway, he wouldnt budge on price, and suggested that I talk with LR customer care, but dont expect mutch out of them he quoted!

I will try the warrenty company Im with to see what their stance is (Warrenty direct, and Ive included the premature wear on it, so it may be hopefull......but im not counting chickens yet)

I love my D3, but every week there seems to be another annoying problem with it, to the point that when I change it, i will seriously look at other manufacturers models!

So....two questions fellow D3/4ers:

1, Who could be recommended to do a clutch change on the D3, and how long would it take?

2, Not too worried where they are located (well within reason of Staffs/Shropshire), and what ball park figure would I be looking at, If I can get Warrenty direct to pay for it then they would need to be VAT registered i suppose. If I end up having to foot the bill, then it would be a cash deal, (wink wink).

Bringing it over shouldnt be a problem, but if it was to take a coupleof days then I could my caravan with me and leave it at a local van park, and make a small holiday of it.

Thanks in advance for any help you all can give.

Best regards

Ringo.

If you get no help from LR and your warranty I would suggest that you next port of call should be Ten for Cash (TFC) on this site. At least he'll give you an honest appraisal. Thumbs Up

Cheers Gents,

I thought that TFC would be the right man, especially having read many of his posts of wisdom....

And Derby is easy for me to get to!

Cheers
