Hi

Think I read somewhere about the error code P0089‐22 something to do with headlamp bulbs / brake bulbs or the brake switch.

But think he had another code to do with the fuel filter

Just wished to mention it on the off chance it may be useful

Hope ur get it sorted out

Update - fault found

Did a Injector leak test and two of the injectors had excessive leaks on the return. Such a leak will drop the fuel pressure on the rail.

Fingers crossed this is the root cause.

Have you tried a Injector leak off test? This is likely the fault on my car.

Update: Fault was not the injectors! Still not found.

Replaced all injectors with new ones. No improvement against limp mode on acceleration. I am now back at square one. LPFP, HPFP, 6 injectors replaced, new filter again yesterday. No improvement. The only difference is that I am getting some new and different codes in addition to the olde codes.

P0089-22 Fuel pressure regulator performance - general signal failure -signal amplitude maximum
P00E -22 Fuel volume regulator control exceeding learning limit - general signal failure - maximum amplitude
P117D-00 Fuel volume regulator control exceeded maximum control limit
P2290- Injector control pressure too low
C1A02-94 Rotary encoder stuck in intermediate position - component failure - unexpected behavior

Most of these are new except for the P2290.

Update new fault found, not related to the fuel system but may be the issue.

Took it to a Land Rover deal for a proper diagnosis and they found a crack in the inlet manifold near injector 6. Unsure if that has been there all along and it is the root cause or if it was cracked while another garage changed the injectors.

After changing the inlet manifold they recommended restoring the software for then Engine Control Module ECM and the Transmission Control Module TCM to OEM to hope to get cleaner fault messages. At the moment I get a few U-related communications errors that the other modules is not getting correct data from the ECM. The car is remapped, has EGR blanked, DPF removed and some software modifications to smooth out the gearbox according to the previous owner.

Does anyone have experience reverting to original software with the GAP IID tool? Is it something you recommend or is it too risky? I would like to keep the EGRs blanked and DPF removal once I solve the limp mode problem.

Thought I would update this thread in case anyone else finds it useful.

Fault still not found. Still limp mode with low fuel pressure codes on acceleration.

Although it got better once I found a few air leaks in the intake system. Which makes sense since it now runs better with less throttle input since it is holding more of the boost. Changed both inlet manifolds and removed the pipes from the EGR to the intake as one of them had a hole in it. Original software with only EGR patch flashed in. Now the car still goes into limp mode on heavy acceleration but it is drivable. Overtaking is a bit risky..

To summarize what is done so far:
- "New / refurbished" HPFP
- New LPFP, currently shows good current draw, pressure and flow at the schrader
- 6 new injectors
- New fuel rail pressure sensor
- Original software
- Intake leaks sorted, inlet manifolds etc.

On higher throttle it seams it manages to hold the acceleration for 4-5 seconds without a further increase in the throttle input before it triggers limp mode.

It also happens easier at higher gears/ lower RPM.

Is there a way to confirm if the refurbished HPFP is faulty or not diagnostically? Can I diagnose a fault in with the pressure control valve or the volume control valve on the HPFP with the GAP tool logging function or something?

Hi Torgeir,
is your error still active? I have the same problems and suspect that when the HPFP is refurbished, new PCV or VCV are not installed.
Did you install a new HPFP, not overhauled, or an overhauled one?

Hello,

I swapped the car out without getting it fixed. I suspected the same thing, that the pump was refurbished without swapping the valves which was causing all the issues. I swapped cars and never got it confirmed.
