If steering went heavy could it just be auxiliary belt that is the problem?

Daft question but is the PAS pump driven by the same belt as the oil pump?

DSL no oil pump is driven by the crankshaft, cams driven by cam belt from crankshaft, HP pump by rear belt. The rest of front auxiliaries by the aux drive belt. Vacuume pump from rear of camshaft.

My 2007 is in next Friday for an oil pump check and replacement if needed. Belts were done at 82k by previous owner and the car is on at 114k now, although I only got it at 111k.
Next Friday can't come soon enough 2007 D3 TDV6 XS - GONE

I'm going through the same problem with my
2.7 sport timing belt tensioner snapped off on oil pump
Wrecking engine I've removed engine body on
Not easy it's now at a engine specialist
Recommended by my indie garage it's where they take there engines to be rebuilt
Please if your haveing it done don't go down the e bay route
There are loads of adds for engines removed and fitted and reconditioned
Engines 98 percent are scams
I did some homework on them thank god I did
My engine needs line boreing rings cams main bearings
Valves etc etc new oil pump so on
I've just had my turbo rebuilt and also my injectors tested
I only want to do this once engine back next week good luck and if I can help
In anyway I'm only to glad I no what you are going through

It turned out that my oil pump was the old version so that that has been replaced. New cam belt kit too despite it being 3 years after the last change as it had to come off to change the pump.
Feel like I’ve dodged a bullet. 2007 D3 TDV6 XS - GONE

Sorry to hear about your continuing problems Broma, although it’s a major plus you detected the crank failure before putting it all back together 2007 D3 TDV6 XS - GONE
