Help! I think I've killed my Disco!
I fitted the ACM/iPod kit today. All went well, but after re-connecting the battery at the end the car now won't start!
All I get is - the red battery warning light and a red oil warning light stay on on the dash after the system checks complete, and the engine won't turn over at all.
Meanwhile, the iPod kit and radio etc. all work fine, as do all the other elctrics it would seem - !
Anyone any idea what's gone wrong???

Did you disconnect both pos and neg? I had similar problem and it turned out to be a bad connection between battery posts and battery leads/clamps. Take them off and give them a good clean with a wire brush or similar. Good luckClub Exped trailer

Ent: Will try disconnecting and cleaning the battery leads in the morning (its below freezing and pitch dark out there now!).
blue meanie: Yes, the hazards work as expected. As does everything else it seems. Except the ignition
Could perhaps the battery have flattened below a certain critical point? Can anyone tell me what I would expect to see if that happened? Would I get this strange combination of battery and oil warning lights on then? I can't see why the battery would flatten when it was disconncted, but it could just be a coincidence.

I'm no expert on D3 battery voltage but anything over 11.5v will turn the engine over, I think.Club Exped trailer

I think you can ignore the warning lights as if the engine isn't running there will be no charge from the alternator and also no oil pressure so this is normal.
It sounds like one of two things:
1. Your battery is - but I can't see why this would have happened if it was ok before and it was disconnected.
2. You've left something unplugged.....you don't say where you installed things and you've confirmed the top switch panel as working, but did you disconnect or move/stretch anything else in the centre console/gear lever area (maybe to fit the cable to the cubby box)?2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

If cleaning the teminals doesn't do it I'll try jump starting her in the morning. That should prove the battery one way or the other.
The only things that were disconnected were two plugs behind the radio head unit, which get replaced with the piggy-back ones from the ACM kit. It was a tight squeeze getting all the wires and plugs behind the radio when putting it back, but everything seems to be working (hazards, radio, blowers).
I did lose a couple of the retaining clips down into the depths when pulling the trim off. I hope they aren't shorting anything out

Oh... and the ACM gubbins was fitted in the prescribed place - connectors in top glove box and control box stuck to side of same. So, not too much pulling and stretching was involved, although as I said, it was certainly a tight fit - especially since there was a Nokia phone kit already squeezed in there too. Nothing was done down below the radio level...

While lying in bed this morning I had an epiphany. Got dressed; went outside; opened the car and TOOK IT OUT OF GEAR Then she started first time.
In my defence, as a new D3 owner I didn't know that the gears were interlocked with the ignition, though I should have guessed since they were on my last two (auto box) cars. But this is a manual. And it was cold out there last night, so my poor brain must have been working on half power.
Still - what an idiot eh?
