Very common issue, it needs adjusting. and maybe cleaning out. Pretty easy DIY if you are mechanically competent.
Use the site search for +EPB +adjust for loads of info.

Interim measure, just turn ignition on and off three times, then start up and pretend there's no problem.
It usually works, first or second time.
Works for me most times - the "screamer" has happened MUCH more since the dealer cleaned it out A previously rare event has become routine.... 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Interesting.
On Jags:
TSB R-167
recall On certain passenger vehicles, the electronic park brake module, which controls the application of the parking brake, may unintentionally apply the handbrake without any indication or warning to the driver.

Same thing happend to me a couple of months ago when on hols in west wales it was still under extended warrenty at the time and the local LR dealership said the computer showed I had operated the epb more than 15 times in a minute(lob) and wanted to charge me to adjust the cable as this was not covered, I beat a hasty retreat and took it to my local dealer who did the job for nothing but did say that the cable was at the end of its adustmnet and told me to use park on the gearbox he also told me that although designed to do so it was not a good idea to pull off with the epb on as this stretches the cable
