Help! Just pulled rear view mirror off window!
Accidents happen!!
It seems to have a metal 3 legged clip type thing. How do I get it back onto the mount that is stuck on the windscreen??
Thanks.

You locate and then twist it.

It seems as though the cleat just clips on to the mount that's glued to the screen.
It's incredibly awkward though! I've just given up and disconnected it. I'll try again later with a bit of grease. It definitely doesn't want to go back on. I wonder if there's a trick to it.Cogito ergo sum!

When I've had a windscreen replaced, they simply twisted through almost 90 degrees and pulled it off and went back on the same way.

Not mine. I have an upturned tapered fitting on the screen and the mirror slides down onto it.
A sharp tap upwards releases it.
That photo looks like you've separated a bit that doesn't normally come apart.

From what I've just been reading it sounds as though the upturned version like Narpy has is possibly the non-auto dimming version???
That cleat is 100% how it mounts on to the screen no doubt about that. I just wondered if there was a nack to getting the thing to clip back on. It's obviously designed to a very tight tolerance so that it doesn't unclip when you going over bumps but so much so that I cannot for the life of me get it to clip back on.
Will try Discogaz suggestion of twisting when I have another go later.Cogito ergo sum!

Found this if it's of any use to anyone. I cant find re-fitting but I guess it's just the reverse of removal as Discogaz suggested a good twist should do it in that case.
And it lists the different types to.Cogito ergo sum!
