Help needed Transmittion fault |
|
Hi Guys
Justed ahd the dreaded phone call from th wife saying the disco 3 won't play ball with us. Not the best but i am currently away with work ad don't get home for a few days.
She said that the disco will go into drive then move a couple of yards with really little power then it stops and the warning symbol for transmittion fault has appeared on the dash board. She tried puting it into the sport mode and going through the the manual selection but it wasn't until 2nd gear before it slowly moved off again but the warning sybol appeared again aftr a few more yards.
It is a 05 plate disco 3 HSE model if this helps any ideas as what i should be looking to try and fix the problem or is this one for the man steellers and a remortgage of the house.
Hope somebody can help me out

Try shutting off, locking the doors and leave for a while till the park brake light goes out, always first thing to try

Thaks Guys for your info.
Wl aftr phoning a tow truck and watching as it strugled with the sheer weight of the disco it went into greenbank 4x4 in Aberdeen.
The fault has been put down to a seized geabox, So they stripped it out and greased it up and now is back running again and with much more smooth gear change than when i first got the car last year.
Thankfully a very cheap repair this time round.

Am I correct in assuming that if was a cheap repair then was the the external gearbox linkage that had seized up?
