HELP......NEW OWNER QUESTION....FULL SYSTEM RESET |
|
I have the problems below and have been told that’s it’s a software fault and something needs recalibrated. Is there anyway of doing so kind of reset of the system myself until I get it to the dealers next week?
I have a manual Discovery 3, I noticed a Park Brake failure warning on the dash fault screen, plus a yellow warning light.
These other faults appeared at the same time :
1. Rear parking sensors failed
2. Reverse lights failed
3. Gear selector screen on dash is blank at low speeds, and takes a few seconds to show gears on the move
4. HDC Fault warning when turned on Stu

Sounds like the x/y sensor
find a stretch of road thats very quiet. Select low range, and stick it in reverse, till you see the R in the dash display (remember to fully remove your foot off the clutch), then select 1 till you see the 1 in the dash and then repeat for all other gears.
When done lock up the car till the clock on the radio goes out .. That should cure your problem G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Yup. SWMBO's D3 has done it a few times and the re-calibration as Wiggs described it below. Strange thing is, it always seemed to happen after a brake light lamp blew.
After a tip from TFC's son, Adam whilsy we were in Tunisia, I pulled the contacts in the brake lamp holders out a bit more so they made better contact and we haven't had any further problems with either the x/y sensor or brake lamps blowing since. Thanks Adam

I second the brake light bulb as possible root cause. Mine showed some of the symptoms you described, changed the bulb and all OK without doing the calibration described above.

Or, in your case, it might be the reversing lights.
Try Wiggs procedure first.

What Wiggs meant by repeat for all other gears was to use them all, not to select reverse between each gear.
1. Reverse
2. 1st
3. 2nd
4. 3rd
etc
When you say that you "did low range", make sure you leave it in low range whilst performing the calibration procedure....this is just to prevent you having to go too fast to select 6th gear.... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Hit it with a badger. It's Land Rover equivalent of ctrl+alt+delete I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

That's not what I said - I said that the you needed to sort the bulb and do the recalibrate to resolve it - but when you put the new bulbs in make sure the contacts are a bit more proud to ensure they make a solid contact with the bulb's contact points.

Haha missed a trick there. Anyway did this and worked a treat, thanks everyone....Only think is PDC now just makes a continous sound rather than any beeping, tried the normal cleaning etc. Any ideas? Stu

badger
Reversing over one tends to sort it.
Ok, being serious for a moment, damp in the sensors tends to send them mental. The recent cold spell has had mine doing their best to call dolphins as soon as I hit reverse. Same on my last one too I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I've got a solution for that - get hit by a Fiesta that upsets one front sensor. The back ones are really quiet!
I .. don't .. think .. they're .. working at the mo...
