help replacing light in the passenger front footwell

hey folks - so I've just ordered and fitted a bunch of LED bulbs in my MY16 disco 4, ordered from powerful and they look great. A couple of the bulbs aren't working but I've made contact and hope they will send me some replacements.

The problem I have is when I removed the light unit from the front passenger footwell, behind the glove box, the cable retracted into the dash.

I've managed to retrieve the cable but in my opinion it's simply not long enough to pull through so I can fit the replacement unit. It's may be snagged somewhere but I don't think so- does anybody have any experience of this.

MY current plan is to simply attached an extra length of cable to I can feed it through and fit the build. I have absolutely no idea what the connector is called so I can order one... the 'extension' probably only needs to be 3 inches or so. Any pointers?

Many thanks

Mike

I changed all of mine to LED's only because I noticed the passenger side foot-well light was not working, when I pulled the foot-well light out I could not find a wire attached to it? do you think mine might of done the same thing and retracted itself?

yes if you pull the glove box down gently it should fold down to the floor exposing a bunch of wires. Mine was loose in there, took a bit of a struggle to feed it through - i threaded a cable tie up from the light socket and attached the wire to the tie and pulled it back through, its really tight though.. the wire if much shorter than all the others.

really pleased with the internal led conversion, you can now see in the car when its dark

I've changed all the other interior lights just need to do these footwell ones, are they just a bulb swap or a complete unit?

Just done all this on D4 ... can't remember any issues with wire retracting so maybe LR worked it out?

one extra thing I did do was - because LEDs were double sided and one side was illuminating the grey plastic above the fitting - carefully cut a beer can into suitably sized strips and stuck them on said plastic with double-sided tape. It's deffo brighter, particularly so for the puddle lights.

only lights I have had any issues with are the number plate ones. they did fit but are touching the reflector and the lens. may have to cut a bit out of the holder as I think they will go deeper in to it but are catching the sides.
