So hows that work....
If you are driving all gauges ok, you stop it, go to start and you have same symptons as kevin, you have overheate your engine
I would have thought the temp gauge would have been up when driving before you switch off the engine ?
Just checking so I don't do the same d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack
D3 with the following
Alive Tuning EGR blanking kit
Alive Tuning Re-map
Alive Atrics console
Samco intercooler hoses (from Alive Tuning)
Alive Tuning De-Cat pipe, lovely tone!
Retrofit OEM Hybrid TV tuner

what we dont know is whether the car had been driven for any distance prior to being in the car park and how long the car was parked up for prior to re-starting after being driven in.
If you do loose the coolant by consequence the first thing you will see is the temp gauge go through the roof, then the car will go in to shut down VERY quickly there after, less than a minute with all functions lost
It could also be that the car had entered the car park loosing the coolant as it drove in, unnoticed by the driver, then parked. It then and will continue to loose the coolant even when switched off. Then the driver returned only to try and start it a short time later and then it went into shutdown mode with all the christmas lights - that's my thoughts from personal experience - either way its cooked the engine
Equally it could also be that the car had been losing coolant prior to even setting off if it was driven a very short distance to the car park for the first time that day, perhaps overnight/during the day before. This would give the same results.
Either way its the car loosing the coolant first, then the lights after - the only thing I would worry about is the a) the vehicle got so hot for it to have all the lights on and b) the engine management light being one of them so IMO its an expensive fix or a short term fix and sell the car asap

Where is the temp sensor? I'm hoping it's in the head?
I have seen some cars with fan temp switches in the top of the radiator! So you loose a little coolant and the fan will never switch on!! As the sensor is bone dry!

I won't know till monday when Gavin at GTR Motors plugs her in
I odd thing is she was parked at my work all day, i then drove her 3 miles to the gym. She was then left for an hour. Jumped in her turned the key and she lit up like a xmas tree. All the normal warning signs, but the temp gage needle when striaght to the top and a little red light flicked on just the the left of the needle. She then would not even turn over or try to. The battery on the centre console read 12v and 12.4v on the AA guys meter. We disconnect the battery and he also boosted it while disconnected. Left 10mins reconnected and still the same. So the AA guy towed me to Gavin at GTR Motors Littleport, Cambs and Gavin the owner met us there at 9.30pm to open up and let us in. Find me a dealer who would willing do that on a Friday night! Good Lad.
Will update you all monday hopefully with some good news for me.
I love my disco but she has cost me alot in the past 20months!

Intial signs are pointing to more corroded wires in the front left wheel arch, same area as last time.
Will know more tomorrow when Gavin can spend some quality time with her

Gavin at GTR Motors is still chasing cables and fault finding. Still no developments
Has anyone come across the issue where your temp gage hits the roof and the disco won't start, saying theres system error and it cannot communicate to the multi terrian module???
At xmas i had a broken cable in front left wheel arch and we are working from there
