As others have said, high mileage isn't necessarily an issue IF it has been looked after and you can see the receipts for work spent on it.
Nor does it necessarily mean it won’t throw its toys completely out the pram, short of a new engine I’m not sure there is a preventative step to stop those little bearing shells rotating. Dark Bluie wanted for absolutely nothing, she went to the Norwegian scrapper with a gearbox that had been reconditioned only a few thousand miles before.
RIP (Rust-in-Pieces) old girl.
Best preventative measure going, buy a V8 05 V8 HSE Bonatti Grey

Has anybody on here been in excess of 200,000..
I'm not on characters mileage yet...but now over 302,000. Booked in for 3rd (well my 2nd) timing belt change end of next month with Disco Mikey.
Original engine (inc turbo), gearbox, diffs etc. Original clutch changed a couple of years ago at over 250,000 IIRC.
Changed air suspension compressor twice.
Front air bags and upper/lower suspension arms etc once. Rear pan-hard rods several times One alternator a couple of batteries, two a/c condensers, one park brake module, one rear door lock actuator and switch. Plus several sets of brake pads, discs and callipers. Lots of oils and filters.
Bought at 148,000 miles in August 2014.

Replacement engine at 140K. Couple of gearbox rebuilds. Other than that, usual stuff. Reckon it costs £1-2K/year to keep it on the road, but it wants for nothing. Took it to France twice a year until lockdown. Now got a D5, but we kept the D3 as we couldn't bear to part with it.
Totally love it.

Good thing about the land rover platforms in general, is the availability on parts is so good and that pretty much every single thing on the vehicle is replaceable!

I bought mine new in 06 and it has over 370,000 km on it. Regular oil changes, at or before the service interval , and I don’t pull away after starting for 20” and leave it tick over 30” before switching off all seem to help. The 05 and 06 seemed to be good as I see many of that vintage still going. I’m in Ireland by the way . Now I’ve jinxed it!

See this is what we like to see them still going strong. Im in Ireland also andy, they have mad milage on them over here. But im still yet to buy one, its driving me mad looking, pretty much everyone I speak to doesn't have any history with the vehicle, or they want stupid money for them.
I've been watching all of them on done deal for around 8 months maybe longer, you can tell which ones are balls of there's a few that have been there for 6 months or more, the good ones priced right sell quick.
