Hill Start - rolling backwards in Drive?
Hi - I havent noticed this before and so I guess it's a fault (or is it a feature?!)....
Was staying at a holiday let with a steepish driveway. When the disco was in drive with handbrake and footbrake disengaged the car would roll backwards and not stop rolling! The same happened when pointing the other way. Should the car hold position on a steepish incline. It seems ok on less steep inclines/declines. the driveway wasnt that steep but suprised by the rolling. Tried a search but cant find any similiar 'problems'. any ideas?
thanks

I suspect the auto will hold it on a slight hill, but anything more than that, then it will roll backwards.
Its worse in low range too - I guess all down to the gearing. I.e. getting off my 4 ramps, I use low range to get up/down and it tends to just roll back unless I am quick on the brake/EPBMark.

This caught me out just after I got my D3. None of the other auto's I've had would roll backwards in Drive quite as easily or as fast as this. Found myself backing down a hill thinking I was in reverse. When I reached the bottom and gave it more gas, all I got was loud skidding noise followed by burning rubber/clutch type smell. Thought I'd done some serious damage but when the dust cleared it seemed ok?

That's strange, because mine holds firm on quite steep hills in drive with no feet on the pedals and the brakes offOn a mission to find the perfect Pork Pie. Just Found it (I think)..(Yes I have)
