Hissing suspension
When I first start the car, i get a sudden burst of air from the suspension, appears to be from the rear. same as when i sometimes stop the vehicle and get out, the car seems to give out a burst of air (sometimes after i have shut the door!). Is this a normal thing for the disco to do?
car raises and lowers as normal wheni use the height selector so in know compressor is working ok?

Completely normal, the car "levels" when it is left and when you start....and all the time it is running......
You will usually hear it as you walk away as the suspension does not adjust if a door is open.
Have funend of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

Mine stopped doing that post the enhancement program. Current one never has.

They usually break wind as you walk away from them and as you unlock them on your return, quite normal treat it as a sort of bonding TDV6 HSE - Light Guards - White Reflective Sticker
