| Hitachi Air Compressor running for TOO LONG! |

Hello
Anyone give me any pointers.
I have removed the Hitachi air compressor from a Discovery 4 (top bracket bolt is a real PITA).
The dessicant and filter pads and plastic (cracked and leaking air - common fault) lid have been replaced and O ring.
The fault C120A (slow to fill reservoir) has been cleared and not returned.
The car lifts quicker but the compressor was running well over 5 mins whilst idling.
No errors so far. I have cycled the air height suspension high, normal, low and back to normal.
The compressor still runs...
Garage says I might have an air leak.
Internet suggests air tank or valve block o rings.
Any pointers where to look. The air compressor is definitely not leaking on the unions or lid (fairy liquid said otherwise).
I read 2.5 to 3 mins is the normal for operating the compressor?
Any help appreciated.
P.S. The height of vehicle DOES NOT drop when parked.

What is the Receiver - Air tank under left front passenger door?
If so, whereabouts was it leaking on your tank? On my air tank I can see no pipes, fittings at the front end, but at the rear there is a pipe and union/hex nut fitting. I will check to see if it bubbling with detergent. I'm told it is common for corrosion to affect above the tank, but it is hard to visually inspect.
It is quite clean in there on my vehicle, so I'd be surprised it is rusted through. No noises etc., but there was no noise on the leaky lid until detergent sprayed on to it and I got my ear close. The bubbles were the give away clue, of course.
The 'normal height only' codes have been on for a month, but the vehicle is used once a week for 20mins each way.
I didn't want to replace the air compressor unless it is knackered. The vehicle reaches height and did so quite quickly after the refurbishment, hence my surprise the compressor was still running. With the covers + noise insulation it is hard to hear the air compressor running due to engine noise, it is only when you walk over the left rear side and made an effort to listen for the air compressor that it can be heard.
I had installed all the pipes to the compressor etc except the top and bottom plastic noise insulation covers and ran the vehicle. Upon disconnecting a pipe to install top plastic cover + noise insulation there was plenty of pressure in the compressor when disconnected!
P.S. any one disconnecting the hoses - the vehicle does not drop to the ground due to one way valves (unless they are faulty). I had the vehicle on jack stands on the four corners, but the vehicle didn't sag.
Only other thing is at full ride height the car front end bobs up and down very slightly, like it loses pressure then tops up. I'm being very picky here - I had to stare at a far sighted object to notice, but I never noticed it before. Front air struts are fine, again no air loss over two weeks of vehicle being stood in garage.

yes the air tank, left side, easy to see.
Mine corroded on the side of the tank, next to the main chassis rail.
Will post photos tomorrow when i get it off.
Before when my compressor wore out, it used to run excesively as well. So could be a number of things.
I have diagnsotic software (Faultmate) so i can see the pressure and see if its falling when the compressor is off, confirming leak. New Engine - Fitted with body on...

Check/renew the relay before spending big money.  It can when others can't,

Its likely the piston seals worn out, its an easy job. Get the kit from X8R off e bay about £60 and buy a new cylinder barrel, about £10 off e bay. It takes a couple of weeks for the barrel to come. STRIP REBUILD FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT COME ON A QR Code. Ooops capitals accident. Its a real easy job actually. Message me if you want some first hand chat. Thank you all for your replies.
I used detergent spray over tank, compressor air tank, air fixings and compressor.
No leaks.
I measured compressor temp. It went upto 74C and then shut down and levelled at 55C.
I'm assuming I have fixed the air leak and the tank was empty. When I came to test again the compressor ran atost 3 mins and shut off, whilst on high suspension. The bobbing at front has gone, it is steady
I'll keep an eye on things
I got piston kit when I got lid thanks
