Hitch Guidance Yellow Line - Sorted

Just part exed my 2014 Freelander 2 Metropolis for a 2015 Discovery 4 HSE. I’ve had two Freelander2’s and when I got both of them they both had a tow bar fitted already. When using the rear view camera there was the option to select the Hitch Guidance.
Had a detachable tow ball and 13pin electrics fitted by Westover Landrover in Christchurch before I picked the Discovery 4 up last week but when I select the rear view camera there is no option to select Hitch Guidance, its just not there. I realise this wouldn’t have been installed when it left the Landrover factory as there was no tow ball and electrics fitted so no need for it. However I am sure that there is a software update to install this when a main dealer installs a towball and electrics. It shows it in the Manual and quick start guide so surely it should be there. Has anyone else had this problem when having a towball and electrics fitted by a main dealer?

The Dealerships can't enable it I'm afraid, but it can be enabled with an IID tool Thumbs Up

Don’t know yet, this is the 1st week I’ve had the car. Been at work all week plan to get the caravan out Sunday and connect it up to make sure everything works. Westover’s have the car on the 20th to see if they can install the Hitch Guidance but from what I have read I don’t hold out much hope.

TBH your better off without it, stooped idea to put a big red band on the bottom of the screen when you get close to something, just covers the area that you need to see ie:the ball & hitch.

Probably obvoius but have you tried touching the screen when the camera is on. On mine that gives the option. Smile

There is no big red band on mine. There is a yellow line which guides you to where the hitch head is depending on the angle of the steering. When you get close, the camera zooms into the hitch and the yellow line is removed giving a really clear view of everything.

Like someone says above, it is selectable. Whenever I put the car into reverse, I can select if I want hitch guidance or a visual indication of what the reversing sensors are picking up. I just change to hitch guidance when hooking up the caravan.

Each to their own I suppose but I find it very helpful.

Unless the hitch guidance was specified on the car when new, then it cant be enabled by a dealership, only by someone with an IID tool as detailed by Washwipe in my link above. One enabled, it gives you a third option on the camera screen and once selected gives you the yellow guidance line and automatic zoom once you get within about 500mm of the hitch, brilliant feature for effortless hitching up Thumbs Up

If you enable as in my thread that B16KJR has mentioned, if you press the reverse sensors and reverse guide lines, this will grey them out then press the greyed out Trailer symbol, you then get no red/yellow sensors but just the yellow line heading from your towball to the target, so no red lines across your towball, plus when you are a metre away it zooms in making it even better and no beeps as you get closer.

Got the caravan out yesterday and connected it all up. All the lights and electrics working correctly, however the rear sensors do still beep when put in reverse with the caravan connected.

No red band on mine either works really well.
