Couple of questions re HSE Xenons.
1, Have they always been adaptive as standard
2, Does anyone know if adaptive lights are put onto a standard car will they work, with or without the adaptive part? Zermatt silver 06 reg.

The adaptive Xenons were only standard on the 2006 model, my first HSE (2005) didnt have them but my replacement (2006 HSE) did. Im afraid Im not sure if its a simple swap for a standard headlight car, Im sure I read on here somewhere that another ECU was needed for the adaptives.
Hope this helps a bit. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Cheers Woody
I have a chance of buying a pair from a breaker, info from them is a bit sketchy but they are from a HSE (Iam sure it won't be a 2006 though) so I suppose it will just be a gamble whether they were adaptive as an option. Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Let us know how you go on. I know that its is a straight swap for the halogen to xenon headlights. Hopefully someone else will be able to tell you whether it is a straight swap for adaptives or if you need another ecu as well. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Best of luck Cliff, I know you have been looking for some for a while! I'm sure you'll appreciate the difference.

Yes I have just got some part numbers for them and they are not adaptive so should be OK, nowhere near as cheap as your 'bargins' but under half the price of LR.
Will check with the bank when she gets in and may go for them. tomorrow Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Got the xenons today
Fitted them in the dark, couldn't wait till Saturday to do them in the light
look great and all work fine.
Have not had a chance to see if the turn lamps work, is the effect subtle?
May have to go for the LED's now to complete the effect Zermatt silver 06 reg.

Clarification
I have 2 copies of the manual.
The older manual page 232 says of cornering lamps on either xenon or haolgen lamps, at speeds below 24mph the cornering lamps get a feed when you activate a particular side indicator.
Static bending lamps are for the adaptives.
No mention of cornering lamps in the newer manual page 218 but the descrption of the static bending lamps on page 220 is the same as the cornering lamps in the old book!!!!!!!!
Confused?
I know I am.
Will just have to experiment I suppose. Zermatt silver 06 reg.

These must be adaptive headlights as my 2005 HSE without the adaptives only had one bulb in the sidelight section. My new D3 with the adaptives does have 2 bulbs in this section. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

I agree they sound like they are the adaptives but then as I say the old manual lists the "cornering lamps" for both halogen and xenon.
I need a lie down.
Anyway the xenons work and seem to be pointing in the right direction. I will experiment with the rest. Zermatt silver 06 reg.
