Should i or would you

Right Gentlemen and ladies,

Should I, or would you Question Question

Invest in the new D4. I have a D3 7seat base, 21,000mls, cost about £30,000 with the extras Oct 06. I reackon on a trade it would be worth maybe, hopefully £15K, 17K private......unless you know different.....?

Is it really worth the hit on depreciation etc as i feel i havn't appreciated the full potential of the vehicle, i use it mainly for Towing a horse trailer and tractors and paddock maintenance equipment about, so i know the power and towing capability along with general driving.

I guess a lot would say buy it, im not saying money is no option but i have had a good year.... Whistle

My side is, I bought a base model but would appreciate few extras more, and if i dont spend my money SWIMBO will and they do look cool 8)

I can categorically say that I would NOT buy a D4 in favour of my current motor........ Whistle

It sounds like you've almost convinced yourself anyway Wink

Your current D3 is coming up to 3 years old, about to go out of warranty and you like the D4 (who wouldn't??)....

You've kept it for a reasonable amount of time so although in money terms, the depreciation is a lot (especially for the low mileage), it sounds like you have a cunning plan to be able to buy a new one without too much trouble.

The sensible side of me says that you should keep your current D3 a few more years as it still isn't really 'run in properly', but the foolish side (the one that usually determines everything I do) says "GO FOR IT!!"

Seriously, I don't think anyone could possibly regret buying a D4 - a bit 'posher' than the D3, but then again, the 4x4 purists complained about the same thing in the D3 when it was released - such thoughts were soon forgotten when people started buying them and it started winning awards - something I'm sure the D4 will continue to do.

I think you can, and do, categorically say that in almost every post you've made since you bought it Rolling Eyes

oh yes oh yes !!!!

Apny,

I'm in a similar position. Good year etc, fancied someting faster, but faster usually means smaller, less practical.

Wouldnt, be able to exploit the full potential of a really fast car. But would be able to enjoy the luxury and off road ability of a D4, and it's other attributes, so would get more out of it.

If I don't spend the money then swmbo will !!! or my daughter will, or something else will come up.

So it's a D4 for me and the next 3-5 years.

The biggest question is "what colour?"

I'm in.

you've taken the big money hit on yours

A new D4 will do 15k of list in the first year (even that may be optimistic !)

so get a cheap warranty - just in case of major faliure

remap or chip

Then see what a good deal a D4 is in a year from now when 'top dollar' is less justified

Congratulations Andy.......

Despite doing what most did and saying "too much paint, too posh, not off-road enough", I'm slowly coming around to how amazing the D4 is going to be.......

The D4 and 2010 RRS have just arrived at our dealers - we're going to have a nosey tomorrow.....I'm tempted to book a test-drive, but scared of the consequences......

No....I'm keeping the D3 - I love it. I'll spend the extra money on a RIB instead Very Happy

What spec did you get and when do they deliver it?

Nice one Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I Didnt, Shocked

Pulled out of changing D3,

Decided i have more commitments at the moment. It was a good deal but i had too long to reflect and now its not happening. But i still have a good D3, low milage 24,000 and plenty of time next year, i know my car will drop in value now but i dont think it will drop as much depreciation on a new D4.

I need to concentrate on the horse box build this year, get that out of the way then see whats about
